Payments & Billing

How Our Payment Schedule Works

Our payment structure is quite flexible, and we will never ask for the full advance payment. Our payment schedule consist on initial deposit before signing the project, the next payment is tied to defining the project milestones, and the final payment will be taken after completion of work. Your satisfaction with work is our priority. The payment schedule will always be given to you in written form, for your convenience. Work will start after your confirmation. You can pay us as easily as by check, credit cards, or ACH bank transfer. Demanding the full payment before starting a project is not ethically appropriate and a serious warning condition for the customers, so we always avoid it.

Late Payments & Lien Rights Notice

For your smooth and to avoid delays in work, you need to follow the payment schedule. Washington state law also gives the contractor, subcontractors, and material suppliers the right to file a mechanics lien on your property if the payment is missing. It is clearly mentioned in your signed agreement that you are responsible for paying all parties involved in your project. You can request lien waiver documentation with each payment, and Bellinghamster Bathrevamp always facilitates this process on your behalf.

Change Orders & Scope Modifications

Any modification to the original project scope — regardless of size — must be documented in a written change order signed by both parties before additional work proceeds. This applies to adjustments in materials, design, scope additions, or any work not covered in your original agreement. When a change is requested, or when we identify an unforeseen condition requiring scope adjustment, we will provide a written estimate of the cost and timeline impact for your review and approval before any work in the affected area continues. Verbal requests and informal conversations are not considered valid changes to your agreement, and no additional cost will appear on your invoice without a signed change order you have signed.

Permits & Code Compliance in Bellingham, WA

Most work of plumbing, electrical, or structural changes in a Bellingham bathroom remodel requires building permits under the Bellingham Municipal Code and the Washington State Building Code. Where required, we identify permit needs and coordinate applications with the City of Bellingham Development Services Center on your behalf as part of our project management service. Permit fees are passed through at direct cost, no markup added. All work we coordinate meets City of Bellingham inspection standards, and passing final inspection is a condition of project completion. Bellinghamster Bathrevamp does not coordinate or authorize unpermitted work of any kind.

Project Scheduling & Your Responsibilities

Timeliness, Delays & Force Majeure

Project timeline estimates are based on the scope at that point and the current situation at the time when you signed the agreement. The timeline can vary due to the Bellingham Development Services Center, weather conditions, and material availability in Bellingham’s Pacific Northwest climate, or any other condition on finalizing. If there is any condition accrued, we are responsible for informing you about the delay. We never announced the fixed date in the written agreement for finishing the project. The delays are caused by situations that the contractor cannot realistically control, including severe weather, supply chain disruptions, government restrictions, utility emergencies, or other force majeure events. You should complete the payment schedule for the completion of the project before any event.

What We Ask of You

A smooth project depends on cooperation from both sides. Clients are responsible for providing access to the work area on every scheduled workday, removing personal belongings and other accessories from the construction area, and securing the pets and children during the work. Make sure the availability of resources like water and electricity is ensured for the smoothness of work. Standard working hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, unless there is any uncertainty arises or the client demands different.

Materials, Products & Older Homes

Material Selections & Substitutions

All material and fixture selections are made with your approval and documented in your project agreement before any orders are placed. If a specified product becomes unavailable after signing, we will present written alternatives of comparable quality for your approval no substitution proceeds without it. Where client-supplied materials are installed, standard labor terms apply, but Bellinghamster Bathrevamp does not warrant the quality, suitability, or durability of materials not sourced through us. Warranty on such materials rests with the manufacturer or the supplier.

Lead Safety & Hazardous Materials

Homes in Bellingham built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint, and older homes may contain asbestos in floor tiles, adhesives, joint compound, or pipe insulation. If your home was built before 1978, please disclose this before project commencement. All professionals we work with follow EPA Lead-Safe work practices where applicable. If asbestos or other hazardous materials are suspected or discovered during demolition, work will pause immediately, you will be notified in writing, and any required licensed abatement will be arranged through a formal change order before work in the affected area resumes.

Warranty duration and specific terms are stated in your project agreement. The workmanship warranty covers defects arising from installation quality and labor under normal use conditions.

To initiate a warranty claim, contact us by phone at (360) 844-3786 or in writing at our address below. We will acknowledge your claim within 3 to 5 business days, arrange an inspection within a reasonable timeframe, and if the issue falls within coverage, remediation will be completed at no cost to you. Also see our privacy policy and disclaimer for additional terms.

What Is Not Covered

The workmanship warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by the homeowner or third parties after project completion, failure to maintain caulking and grout per standard maintenance guidelines, damage from flooding or seismic events, or defects in client-supplied materials.

Manufacturer warranties on fixtures, tiles, vanities, and products are separate and governed by each manufacturer’s terms. We will provide all manufacturer documentation at project completion and assist you in initiating any applicable manufacturer warranty claims.

Client Cancellation

If your agreement was signed at your home during a consultation, the FTC Cooling-Off Rule may entitle you to cancel within three business days without penalty. A written Notice of Cancellation form will be provided at the time of signing as required by law, and no work will begin before this window expires. A project suspended by the client for more than 30 consecutive calendar days without a written suspension agreement may be treated as a cancellation.
